Explore the life sciences

We are LifeSci Lens, the University of Bristol’s first student-run online life sciences magazine. Created and managed entirely by UoB student volunteers, LifeSci Lens provides a platform for students to share their unique scientific interests and encourages them to explore topics beyond their course material. We are passionate about the dissemination of free and accessible scientific communication as a means to support scientific literacy, and we invite readers of all backgrounds to engage with our freely published magazine.

Our magazine

We aim to foster a collaborative and supportive network that allows students to share knowledge across multiple life sciences disciplines. Whether you are a UoB student looking to write for us or join our Editorial Team, or a curious reader interested in delving deeper into the life sciences, there's something here for you! Our Editorial Team consists of three distinct groups: editors, proofreaders and designers, managed by a committee democratically elected by members of the LifeSci Lens SU society. Together we work to assemble each issue with enthusiasm and scientific integrity. Maintaining an online publication keeps our magazine freely available and accessible to all, while also reducing our environmental impact.

Want to get involved but don't have the time to take on a role? Help out a prospective writer without any ideas, or simply get an article written to answer a burning life sciences question you might have: give our writers a topic suggestion today!

Check out our FAQs section for more information related to our process and organisation.

UoB students can also receive regular updates and opportunities to get involved by signing up for our free SU membership
